After the recent success of Happy Ever After, The Laughing Monkey Company return to the Norwich Puppet Theatre to perform this stage farce from the pen of acclaimed playwright, Alan Bennett.

A Surgery in Hove, Brighton during the 1960s. GP Dr Arthur Wicksteed and his wife Muriel, seemingly trapped in a dead marriage, plan secret liaisons with, respectively, Felicity Rumpers and Sir Percy Shorter. At the same time Felicity, nursing a dreadful secret, takes a shine to the Wicksteed’s hypochondriac son, Dennis; while Sir Percy falls for the (somewhat false) charms of Wicksteed’s sister Connie, who seeks an escape from her miserable engagement to rector, Canon Throbbing. All-seeing char Mrs Swabb watches on as the lustful motives of her employers spiral out of control. Could this be what they mean by the permissive society?
